隠世の勇者
Kakuriyo no Yūsha
Hero of the Hidden World — a top-down action RPG in Godot 4: party of four, six spirit-world dungeons, and campfire scenes steeped in Shinto lore. Tone & pacing echo classics like Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger.
The Story
Between the living world and the hidden realm
The kakuriyo (隠世) is the unseen world of Shinto belief — spirits, kami, and old obligations running parallel to the everyday world. When borders fray, that realm leaks into the living — and a party of heroes walks the line between them.
You chart the journey with Musubi (結び), Kitsuri the kitsune, and Daichi the tanuki — bonds forged at six campfire scenes, rotations through six corrupted Jinja-chi, and combat that rewards timing and party synergy, not button-mashing alone.
Dungeons and encounters pull from Kojiki, Nihon Shoki, and folk tradition — mountain kami, river spirits, fox shrines, and shadows that belong to stories older than the sword.
Design touchstones include Secret of Mana, A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, and Eastward — warm co-op energy, readable top-down action, and room to breathe between fights. Shinto ideas of ma (間), musubi (結び), and harae (祓え) still inform tone: connection, space, and purification as game feel, not set dressing.

Built with Godot 4
Godot 4 is the studio's primary engine for narrative action titles — open-source, strong 2D tooling, and a fast iteration loop for combat feel. Kakuriyo is a top-down action RPG: movement, hitboxes, and party coordination read clearly from above, in the spirit of 16-bit classics updated for modern controllers and PC.
Gameplay logic lives in GDScript; systems are being grown toward the full six-dungeon, four-hero scope in the GDD. Visual identity and tile/asset choices are still in sourcing — art direction will lock once the vertical slices prove out combat and readability.
