Mayoi no Mori
Forest of the Lost — sending someone home is never a loss. It’s the point.
Pulled through a tear between worlds, a lone drifter wakes in a wood with no way out — only deeper. Side-view platformer traversal leads into turn-based ambushes from three flanks because the forest itself is built to encircle travelers. Rescue captives back to Last Light, grow a roster via Heroes99 layering, field a party of three, and release members home when you’re ready to let go.
Visible ambushes
Three-flank combat
Enemies patrol the field and chase on sight — contact triggers battle, no random encounter table. Party center-bottom; goblin, snake, and slime hold left/right flanks, bat holds top. Directional skills matter: cleave hits sides but not air; anti-air is the reliable bat answer.
Chapters: Waking (tutorial + Senna) → Loops (bound-wood hints, recruit Voss) → The Hollow Below (cave, optional Forgotten One) → The Heartwood (Warden finale, surrounded on all sides before the trap breaks).

Rescue & release
Every rescued captive joins the roster — weapon type hints role (spear/sword reach, axe single-target, dagger multi-hit, wand caster). Swap your active three before each expedition; release anyone home for good when their arc feels complete.
Ending fork: Sever the binding (wood becomes ordinary) or Renew it (willing pact, bittersweet caretaker stay-behind).
v2 deferred: Inn (10 residents), training, weapon skill trees, optional backstories. ~$31 assets · GDD v0.2.
